Mathematics
The second grade class is nearly finished with book 1 of their math notebook! We have
been keeping up with skip counting drills, as multiplication exercises increase in upcoming
lessons. The lessons for February focus especially on calendar and time, basic money counting
(mostly coins at first), addition and subtraction word problems, regrouping/borrowing, and 4 digit
addition. Please be sure your student is practicing their rocket math each school night to keep
their addition and subtraction facts fresh!

Botany
Now that the class has learned all the specific parts and jobs of a plant, we will be
starting our own in-class plant project! Each student will plant their own flower seed, water it,
and observe its progress. They will write down its growth or what could be delaying its growth
and consider what it needs to flourish.
