Pharaohs
Emperors, rulers, tyrants and kings.
The pharaohs of Egypt were all of these things.
Arrayed in fine jewels, gold bracelets and silk,
They ordered great statues and pyramids built.
They sent forth their armies with banners unfurled,
Made Egypt respected all over the world.
Emperors, rulers, tyrants and kings.
The pharaohs of Egypt were all of these things.
Rulers supreme, lords of the land,
From the Nile’s muddy water to Sahra’s hot sand.
Divided by dynasty, centuries old,
The whole of their history has never been told.
